- Two WiMAX-related conferences, 2011 Taipei WiMAX Summit and WiMAX Forum Global Operator Summit, have been held in Taipei, Taiwan during January 10 to 12, 2011, according to the Commercial Times of Taiwan. WiMAX equipment manufacturers and carriers worldwide, such as UQ Communications, Clearwire, Sprint, KDDI, KT, Intel, Samsung, Huawei, Cisco, Motorola, Alcatel-Lucent, and Gemtek, have gathered in Taiwan to discuss the development of WiMAX. It is reported that new 802.16m standard is set, and final approval is expected to be passed by March this year.
